Late Game Ascension
Late game is about turning normal clears into permanent advantages, required artifacts, special mountain progress, and ascension-starting resources.
Late-Game Checklist
Section titled “Late-Game Checklist”| Goal | What To Build Around |
|---|---|
| Stable normal clears | Prestige that improves start speed, miner damage, runner speed, and den consistency. |
| Reliable artifacts | Fated Finds, Forge Artifact, Treasure Hunter support, and safe expeditions. |
| Special mountain gates | Ruby Key, Sapphire Key, Emerald Key, Goblin Crown, Dragon's Egg, Shadowflame Whip, Arkenstone, and other gate artifacts. |
| Mithril and soul starts | Ascended Mithril Cache, Ascended Soul Cache, mithril-luck, and ritual cost reduction. |
| Great World Spire convenience | King of the Spire after Ascension Rank 1/5, once you are repeatedly pushing the spire path. |
| Post-collection artifact farming | Endless Artifacts after all non-Tier 5 artifacts are collected. |
| Ascension scaling | Repeatable Tier 6 damage upgrades should match the weapon line you are actually using, not every weapon line at once. |
Ascension Decision Flow
Section titled “Ascension Decision Flow”| If This Is Your Wall | Do This Next |
|---|---|
| Normal mountains are still slow | Prestige for start speed, Miner/runner strength, and the damage branch that is already carrying the run before chasing spire artifacts. |
| Normal clears are easy but the spire is blocked | Stop pushing levels and finish the Great World Spire checklist: keys, boss artifacts, Arkenstone, Dial of Destiny, and Philosopher's Stone. |
| Rare currency slows every reset | Buy starting mithril/soul prestige and mithril-luck before another weapon repeatable. |
| Artifact drops no longer give new normal artifacts | Move into Endless Artifacts farming and pick damage, ore value, or PP based on the thing slowing the run. |
| One weapon line clearly carries clears | Put repeatable Tier 6 damage into that line first; spreading ascension damage across unused branches is delayed value. |
Special Mountain Path
Section titled “Special Mountain Path”| Mountain | Level / Trigger | Preparation | Reward / Result |
|---|---|---|---|
| Triple Seal Gate | Level 50 key gate | Level 50 three-key gate before the late-game spire path; tied to Ruby Key, Sapphire Key, and Emerald Key progression. | The Nauglamir after keeping Ruby Key, Sapphire Key, and Emerald Key. |
| Goblin King Peak | Level 20 timed boss, 180 seconds | Level 20 timed Goblin King milestone with a 180-second timer; success awards the Goblin Crown artifact. | Goblin Crown. |
| Dragon's Peak | Level 40 timed boss, 180 seconds | Level 40 timed dragon boss with a 180-second timer; success awards Dragon's Egg and dragon riches, while failure forces a prestige or retry. | Dragon's Egg. |
| Architect's Summit | Level 60 timed boss, 180 seconds | Level 60 timed Architect's Golem boss with a 180-second timer; the game warns you to destroy the mountain before the golem seals itself away. | Mountain Core. |
| Balrogg's Pit | Level 80 timed boss, 180 seconds | Level 80 timed Balrogg boss with a 180-second timer; failure forces a prestige or retry and success awards the Shadowflame Whip. | Shadowflame Whip. |
| The Great World Spire | Level 100 artifact gate | Level 100 final artifact gate and spire target; requires eight special artifacts before the forcefield opens and endless mode begins. | Endless Mode after the eight required spire artifacts are present. |
Spire Artifact Checklist
Section titled “Spire Artifact Checklist”| Artifact Group | Do This |
|---|---|
| Three-key vault | Keep Ruby Key, Sapphire Key, and Emerald Key, then clear the Level 50 Triple Seal Gate for The Nauglamir. |
| Boss rewards | Collect Goblin Crown from Level 20 Goblin King Peak, Dragon's Egg from Level 40 Dragon's Peak, Mountain Core from Level 60 Architect's Summit, and Shadowflame Whip from Level 80 Balrogg's Pit. |
| Alchemy blocker | Use Alchemy for Philosopher's Stone. This is the common 7/8 missing artifact. |
| Keep when offered | Arkenstone and Dial of Destiny. |
Ascension Spending
Section titled “Ascension Spending”| Spend On | When It Makes Sense |
|---|---|
| Repeatable weapon damage | Only after that weapon line is already your clear-speed engine. |
| Starting mithril or soul | When early late-game setup is slowed by rare currency rather than damage. |
| Artifact carryover and guaranteed drops | When the first minutes of a run are spent trying to recreate the same artifact setup. |
| King of the Spire | When you are repeatedly entering the Great World Spire path and want auto-start or missing-artifact stop protection. |
| Key and gate support | When normal clears are easy but special mountain progress is unreliable. |
Common Mistakes
Section titled “Common Mistakes”| Mistake | Fix |
|---|---|
| Spreading Tier 6 damage across unused weapons. | Spend repeatable damage on the weapon line that is actually carrying clears. |
| Pushing the Spire before the artifact checklist is ready. | Use the Great World Spire Checklist before treating it as a normal mountain. |
| Buying more damage when rare currency is the wall. | If mithril, soul, or a missing artifact blocks every useful purchase, fix that economy before another weapon tier. |
| Ignoring start resources. | Starting mithril, soul, artifact, and runner prestige can remove repeated dead time from every late reset. |
